Orlando! (Day Two)

Orlando (Day One)

 wall art 007
That's exactly what I'm doing now, and where I am. This week, it has brought me to Orlando, Florida. I awoke at roughly five a.m. to catch a flight out of Nashville which connected in Atlanta and finally touched down here. Total flight time was about 2 hours, including sitting on the planes waiting to actually take off. And it didn't cost me a dime.

I was picked up at the airport in a gold Cadillac Escalade (and for those that know me...gold is totally my color!) by Carrie. I claim shotgun and we proceed to the hotel. Unbeknownst to me, I am now at the Hilton, typing this for all of you to read so you know what kind of class this company has.

We get here, I check in, call the family and let them know I've arrived safely. Then the day starts. People from all over the place start showing up and there were a couple that I have been anxious to meet in person. My good friend, Lynn, who is just as charismatic in person as she is on the phone. My friend, mentor and master, Peter, who is just a phenomenal person altogether that I've learned a vast amount in such a short time from. I will probably write at least one book on his teachings or maybe help him write one or both.

And the old cowboy himself shows up. The legend, Earl Shaw. Now, for those of you that have never met the man, he's shorter than my five foot seven (barely), but has a commanding voice. Hearing him on the phone on conference calls and business calls is one thing, but seeing someone face to face gives that voice behind it all, a real life and persona of its own as the actual presentation emerges. I see now, why he has been so successful.

I was coming here one way or another. The force has made it so. I attracted it from the universe. It was written in the stars. 'Twas God's edict and decree that I learn from the best in the business. I must say, today has been invaluable. I wish more people could have come, and I'm sure I'll invite others as it seems I have been given a leadership role I wasn't anticipating. I told you before, they see something in me, I'm not sure exactly what, but I'm putting money on the notion that I'll find out this weekend.

The Importance of Consistency

url
That pretty much says it right there. There is an old saying that goes something awfully similar to, “practice makes perfect.” I have no idea who said it, but it makes pretty darn good sense in my opinion. Now, I don’t personally believe that perfection can be attained, but surely agree that the more you practice, the better you are bound to get. Thus, the importance of consistency.
Let’s say you were a long distance runner. For your first race, you have to run five kilometers and you train every day running at least two miles up an down hills. Then, a few weeks pass and the race is the next day. You still go out and run those two miles, you don’t take a rest day, you keep your body in tune with the pace assuring that you’ll at least keep up with the pack.
Now, your body was in such good condition, you actually won the race! So, on the confidence in your ability, you enter next months 5k that is at the same park. However, this time, you gloat on yourself a little, you know you’re great, so you only train every other day and take two days off before the race to make sure your muscles are good and rested. The day comes and you take off like a rabbit, flying past everyone and taking the lead. About half way through, you notice people are starting to catch up, and try as you might to keep your original pace, you don’t have the gusto to keep it up. You’re winded. You fall into the middle of the crowd and get lost in the average joes.

Excellence is a habit. Practice makes perfect. Consistency truly is one of the keys to success. Just do it. (which is not Nike by the way, but Socrates). All of this, most of you have heard before. Let it serve as a reminder. For those that had no idea, I do hope this is helpful! As for myself…maintaining consistency is a must. Making it a priority has become a tattoo on the mental map for success in my mind. May your journey be as well-advised and fruitful friends.

Rejection?

17562-40-unique-inspirational-quotes-1440x1080
If only it were easier right? It’s not. But then again…it is! That quote right there comes from a man that grew up on a farm milking cows. He had no real education, a self-described dummy even. But, what he had that most people do not, is commitment and determination. No matter how many times someone told him ‘no’, he kept on going and continued his pursuit of success. He learned how to deal with today’s topic…rejection.

Rejection is a frustrating thing to deal with for some people. Hearing a ‘no’ in itself is negative and that negativity can tend to bring a person down. Human nature dictates that upon hearing a ‘no’, our will is often broken and we feel like we cannot reach our goal(s). I will tell you though, rejection is a blessing in disguise.

Here’s why, every time you get a ‘no’, you’re that much closer to your next ‘YES’! It’s all in how you see things. Dealing with rejection may be more difficult from person to person, but the individual must make that commitment to truly achieve his or her desired success. There is no best way to deal with rejection other than accept the fact it WILL happen, more frequently than any of us would like. Thus, it’s not a matter of dealing with rejection that is the problem, it’s embracing the inevitability.

So, in conclusion, I say to myself and every other person out there on the brink of success…do not give up! Keep trudging through the storms, stay the path, adjust the sails, whatever you need to do. The only person that is entirely responsible for your success is you. You have to make the decision to ‘deal with rejection’, find yourself in the lost sea, swim to the shores and take the island for your own. That’s exactly what I’m doing.

S.O.S. (A Silent Cry For Help)

S.O.S. was first a military nautical term adopted (on my birthday in 1905!) by the German government in radio operations that signifies an international distress call. It became a world wide standard shortly thereafter, most predominantly being used in Morse Code.

I’ve given it a whole new twist in relation to network marketing.

How often I see the silent cry for help. Some people are even screaming! I am no saint though, for I too, was guilty of sending out the signal.

You see, many new network marketers are not successful in their first few weeks, or months, and start looking for something ‘better’. The truth of the matter is, they haven’t acquired the proper mentor to teach them how to apply themselves. ANY business can be successful, you just have to follow a few unwritten rules and guidelines.

So, I have penned the term, ‘Shiny Object Syndrome’. It describes a person that has lost site of the original excitement and flair in their current pursuit and opt to chase another opportunity in the hopes that it will prove more successful than the last one they were just doing. It’s not necessarily considered giving up, but they feel this new ‘shiny object’ has more potential than the last one they saw.

To me, it’s a matter of focus. Perhaps their mentor or team leaders didn’t keep an open line of communication, or weren’t there when they needed them? Maybe they just were traveling down their respective road and saw that bag blowing in the wind…distracted. Either way, they were not achieving what they had hoped with the company they are currently with and so…move on to the next.

Maybe you’re one of these people? What you truly need most, because I needed too, is a strong sense of direction. Your motivation may be stronger than my own even, but without someone or something to keep you focused on your objective and help you see the vision, you will more likely than not, fall prey to the S.O.S.

I would like to help you. Find me on Facebook, if you dare, and by giving me just ten minutes a day, I can show you how to be successful. I’ve been taught several systems, and know they work. In a few months from now, you’ll understand why I’m telling you this and reaching out to help you…yes, YOU.

Are We There Yet? (Some Secrets to Success)

That’s really the question I’m asking you. Are you where you want to be? In life as a whole sure, but I’m mainly talking to those that are trying to find success in their home business or network marketing venture(s). Have you attained any of your goals? If not, why do you suppose that is so? Do you have a system? Have you set goals at all? We should probably start with square one.

What is your motivation? What is the why behind what it is you are trying to accomplish. Your motivation is the foundation, nay, the cornerstone of the foundation upon which you will build the rest of your palace of dreams. If your motivation is not so strong that it chokes you up, makes you pause to take a breath while you tell others, then I fear you may not have the proper motivation. Take time to reflect on it for awhile, write it out, I INSIST. You can thank me later. Also, once it is written, and you are satisfied with the powerful emotional content contained therein, keep it with you.

Two other things you need are a productive team and a good leader and mentor. Any team knows that one player cannot win the game all by himself. Do you think Michael Jordan or Karee-Abdul Jabaar won all those NBA rings on their own? How many times did Mickey Mantle, Don Mattingly, or Derek Jeter (yes, I’m a Yankees fan) go to bat in the World Series’? Just as many as everyone else on the team. Did Wayne Gretzky score every goal, get every assist and stop every shot? They all had excellent teammates AND were leaders on their respected teams. Teams have leaders, and those leaders have mentors. Can look at mentors similar to the coach or manager of the team. He/she is still technically part of the team, but it gives them all the pleasure in the world to pass on their knowledge to assure their team’s success.

Success itself, also depends greatly on communication. Conveying your lessons to your team effectively and discussing issues or ‘tricks’ with them on a regular basis is imperative. Has anyone heard that saying, “you are what you eat”? If all you take in throughout a day or week is the incessant complaining of negative friends, I can assure you, you too will begin to whine a little bit. If you listen to inspiring audio books all day, you’ll have a great message to bring to your team, even if it’s just a simple three or four word reflective thought like, “dreaming leads to success”. My point is, your effectiveness on your team and application from your leaders and mentors will show. If you only talk once a week, you will miss a lot. It doesn’t have to be two hours, just fifteen minutes to make sure everyone is on the same page and you are progressing. In doing so, you will be able to build your own team in a grand fashion, because you will know how to communicate with them especially well and able to teach them.

Finally, I would like to touch briefly on vision. I asked at the beginning of this if you had set any goals. I highly suggest you do that. Write them down. Keep them in front of you to remind yourself every time you look up from your computer what you are aiming for. This differs from motivation, try not to get the two mixed up. A vision, is a set of goals in its entirety, the end result, the ultimate goal, and all the little steps, giant bounds and leaps you must make along the way. Start with small goals. ‘I will sponsor one person this week’ or ‘I am going to make a hundred dollars residual income this month’. Notice I did not use ‘I want’ or ‘I hope to’ or something along those lines. Your goals have to be finite territory. Hopes and dreams are all good well, the seeds to success even, but seeds only. If you only want one plant, you still have to plant that seed, water it, care for it, fertilize it maybe, and nurture it to full growth. Even when it is grown, you still have to care for it to assure its survival. A little more than brief, but hopefully you get what I’m saying.

The Fountain of Youth

Throughout history, humankind has sought the artifacts of legend, cities and cultures of grandeur, and dug for relics of the past which we only know now as myths. El Dorado, the Lost City of Atlantis, the Holy Grail, Alladin's Lamp, and the most prized of all, the Fountain of Youth.

Could you imagine though? If we actually found the Fountain of Youth? People would literally be lining up across the globe just to catch a glimpse of it's purity. And imagine the marketability of such a thing! A mere sip from the Fountain of Youth would probably cost tens of thousands if not millions of dollars!

I want you also to imagine all the people it would help. Help with what you ask? Aside from the obvious rejuvenation effects, the confidence and peace of mind such a discovery would bring. The Fountain of Youth would ease two of the most prominent fears shared by humankind as a whole. Death and growing old.
The Fountain of Youth would eliminate all those side effects from aging that we so desperately desire to prevent and eliminate. Many people, young and old alike, find it difficult just to muster the brevity to look themselves in the mirror, knowing their young bodies are not what they used to be. What a treasure on earth it would be to find the famous Fountain of Youth. Crow's feet, gone. Wrinkles, gone. Gray hair, restored. Aches and pains, alleviated.

You see, what happens over time to our bodies can be put to a simple comparison. Imagine the strands of DNA in your body that hold everything together on a molecular level as shoe laces. You know how after awhile, on your favorite pair of shoes, the little plastic piece comes off of the end of the shoe lace? Now as we know, once that part is gone, it isn't long before the ends start to fray ultimately shortening the shoe lace as small tethers get shredded away from daily wear and tear. Luckily, we can easily replace a pair of shoe laces. Our DNA on the other hand...is not so expendable.

What if we could repair and rebuild that DNA?

What if there was a Fountain of Youth?

Would you want to know more about it?

Well...

We've found a way.

Your prayers are answered.
